Laser Cheval creates a stir at EPHJ with Quartz Géode

On 14 June 2024, the Franche-Comté company presented its latest innovation, the Quartz Géode, at the EPHJ trade fair in Geneva. This model, which combines the Quartz laser machine with a new Geode module, gives the unit a high level of operating autonomy in addition to unique technical performance.

In June 2024, Laser Cheval created quite a stir at the EPHJ trade fair in Geneva when it unveiled its new machine, the Quartz Géode. The company, based in Marnay in the Franche-Comté region of France, which celebrates its 50th anniversary this year, has taken innovation to a new level with this model, whose technical features are of particular interest to industrial players in the watchmaking, jewellery and medical sectors, who are looking for precision and productivity.

Laser Cheval's teams designed the Quartz Géode by listening to and studying the needs of its customers. They thought about how to increase the productivity of a laser machine by giving it autonomy. This led to the idea of adding a palletiser module to the Quartz, a reference from the Laser Cheval catalogue.

Quartz Géode is the result of a combination of two elements: The Quartz and the new Géode module, designed and developed in Marnay. This is a high-capacity palletiser that is still very compact. "The intelligence and flexibility of the system enable us to manage a variety of part references," stress the Laser Cheval teams. It is therefore possible to programme the engraving of several part numbers, for example, using 48 trays of three different heights, or to start an engraving cycle for a large series of parts without human intervention. Quartz Géode can operate for 48 hours, even over a weekend. "We are responding to the ever-increasing need for productivity and autonomy. This high-capacity parts storage, combined with the performance of the Quartz, which can incorporate any type of laser source, from continuous to femtosecond, gives the Quartz Géode assembly unique technical performance in the world of micromachining, engraving and welding. The system is controlled by ergonomic, removable touch screens equipped with Lens or Vision software developed by Laser Cheval.

Other Quartz Géode strengths

Quartz Géode's other strengths include its small footprint. More than 2,000 hours of work went into developing Quartz Géode, which has already gone on sale. This Made In Franche-Comté innovation attracted a great deal of interest from visitors to the EPHJ trade show, proving, if proof were needed, that Laser Cheval knows how to meet the needs of the industrial market through innovation. And it's been going for 50 years!

Why does Quartz Géode make the difference?

  • High storage capacity thanks to palletiser for up to 48 trays
  • Small footprint (just 1.5 square metres)
  • Up to 5 mechanical and three optical axes
  • A single software suite for control
  • Wide range of optics
  • Plug & Play,
  • Automatic or manual vision
